Mount Cabot Trail Maps - Directions from the parking lot to the summit Top

The trail map below shows how to get to the summit of Mount Cabot via the Bunnell Notch Trail.

From the second parking area after you pass the Berlin Fish Hatchery off York Pond Road, you will be walking on the road for roughly 0.1 miles until you see the trail begin. Continue straight for another 0.1 miles on the York Pond Trail. At the junction, it is almost a 90 degree angle to get onto the Bunnell Notch Trail. Hike up the Bunnell Notch Trail for 2.8 miles until you reach a junction. At the junction, go slight right onto the Kilkenny Ridge Trail for 0.3 miles. (This part of the trail is not maintained.) Roughly 0.4 miles after that, you will reach a sign on a tree (easy to miss) that says "view" on your right, which leads to Bunnell Rock, a great viewpoint. After enjoying the views, continue up for another 1 mile until you reach the summit of Mount Cabot. You will reach the Cabot Cabin right before the summit.

Cabot Cabin is a fully enclosed house right before the summit of Mount Cabot. It is maintained by the Jefferson Boy Scouts. The cabin includes 2 rooms: a kitchen-like area with a table and benches, and a back room with 4 platforms to sleep on. It was originally built to house a fire warden who manned the fire tower (which has been removed) on the summit of Mount Cabot.
